Big news! Bad Wolf is FINISHED!

Hey party people!

Good news! BAD WOLF IN FINISHED! Yep, you read that right. It’s done. I finished it early this morning before I dove into work. I still don’t have a cover for you guys. I ended up scrapping most of the concept I was working on and will be revisiting it next weekend. I will more than likely be revealing the cover right before I hit publish. And I’m not doing a preorder period. You guys are just going to get a message one day letting you know that the book is live.

I’m really proud of Bad Wolf and can’t wait to launch this series. I adore all of the main characters. To celebrate reaching the end, I’ll be sharing an excerpt with you guys on Friday. So keep your peepers open for that.

Also, I’ve added a new widget to the sidebar here on my blog titled WIP Updates. I’m going to keep track of the projects I’m working on. It’s new so it’s going to take me a bit to get into the habit of updating it daily, but I will.

Up next is to finish Dance With the Devil. I’ve got 40,350 words completed in the project and following a re-evaluation of my story map, I’m thinking that one is going to be about another 25-30,000 more words before it’s complete. Now, if I can keep up the same pace, that means I should have Dance completed within the next 10-ish days.

With Bad Wolf complete, I will be back here blogging every day as planned. I just needed to throw myself into the project for a few days to get over the finish line.

Okay, that’s it for tonight. Talk to you all tomorrow!

I fell short on my writing goal last night and it’s because I fell into a Twilight k hole…

I can’t write in dead silence. I have to either have music or a show/movie of some sort playing in the background. It’s like white noise except I actually pay attention to it while I’m working. More often than not, it’s something supernatural or fantasy in nature. Underworld, The Magicians, Game of Thrones, Supernatural, etc.

Last night, I was surfing Hulu for something to watch when I came across a little junk food for the brain. Thanks to the ten-year anniversary of the first film, the covers of the Twilight series have been redone and the first one caught my eye. I said fuck it and hit play.

Just a few minutes in to writing, my tablet starting getting all uppity about a low battery (excuse #1) so I put it on to charge and switched up to writing in my notebook. Then I got hungry so I had to set the notebook aside to eat (excuse #2) but for some reason, it took forty-five minutes to eat one slice of pizza. Then there was a song in the movie that reminded me of another song but I couldn’t remember the name so I had to look it up (excuse #3). Once I found the name of the song and listened to it….and three more after it….I went back to the movie and my notebook. Before I knew it, I was hitting play on Eclipse and most of the night was gone.

As a result, I got less than 1,000 words written for the whole night. Thankfully, I had a good run the night before and came in way above my goal. It still leaves me a touch behind where I want to be for the week but I think I’m going to beat the goal tonight to make up for it. I’ll update you guys again tomorrow and let you know.

OH! My first patron-only exclusive excerpt from Bad Wolf goes live on Friday over of my Patreon profile. 🙂

Okay, I’m off for the night. Hope you’re all having a wonderful week!

A Website Facelift & Some News!

Greetings, humans! I’ve been busy this morning.

First, if you take a peek around my website, you’ll notice that it’s had a major facelift. I realized while proofreading yesterday’s post that with the dark background, my blog was really hard to read. As a result, I went through and revamped almost everything. Now you can read long posts without it leaving weird black lines in your field of vision when you switch to a different screen.  lol

Second, I’ve joined Patreon! Throughout history, artists have been supported by patrons of the arts. The de’ Medici family were patrons to Michelangelo. The Sforza family were patrons to da Vinci. Popes, kings, prominent members of society—they all believed in the importance of having art in the world. Now, if you’re so inclined, you can help support my art and get some neat benefits in the process. Below is a screenshot of the six different tiers available (ranging from $2-$100/month) and the benefits you get along with each tier.

Today’s plan is to bust out my PR work for the day and then jump right back into working on the ending of Bad Wolf. I didn’t finish it as planned last night but I should be able to tonight. If I reach the finish line, you guys will be the first to know.

New Years Resolutions & a WIP Update

Good afternoon! I’ve never been one for New Years resolutions but this year, I have a big goal at the end of the summer that I NEED to achieve for my own sanity (more details on that coming soon). To get there, I need to buckle down and make my writing goals happen. No more treating writing like a second part-time job. Time to get serious and bust my ass so I’m publishing more than one book per year.

Right now, I’m diligently working my way through Dance With the Devil (Hellfire Book Three) and Bad Wolf (Executioner Book One – Hellfire spin-off series). I started out with a 40,000 word goal on both and thought I was close to done about two months ago. I was wrong. Soooo very wrong. Both books are quickly closing in on 60,000 words each. The upside is longer books. The downside is it’s taking me forever to reach the finish line. But I’m almost there…

To help myself get there, I started dedicating a large chunk of writing time each day right around Christmas. I’ve been working doing the PR thing every day and then at night, I sit down with my tablet and crank out 3,000 words. It’s not always on the same project, but I always do at least 3,000 words total.

At the rate I’m going, I’m hoping to have both finished and edited by the end of February. Once they’re done, I will be diving right into the second Executioner book as I already have it fully plotted out. And somewhere in that schedule, I need to finish the Bad Wolf cover. lol I keep forgetting that the book doesn’t have a cover… I’ve been so focused on keeping my momentum on the book that getting the cover finished has taken a bit of a back seat. I promise, it’ll be along soon.

The list of goals I posted on Instagram:

And yes, I know there is a typo in the graphic. I read over the stupid thing like twenty times before I posted it to IG. The second it went live, I spotted the typo. lol

Goal number eight is why we’re here today. I’ve been fucking horrible about blogging here on my site for…….well, the last couple of years. lol BUT, I’m determined to change all of that. I have my task manager loaded with a daily to-do list and posting on the bloggy blog is part of that. So you are going to be hearing a lot more from me going forward. Sometimes it will be writing updates. Sometimes it’ll be about what I’ve been watching/reading/listening to. Sometimes, it’s just going to be some random bullshit. If you’ve been following my blog for years, you’re already familiar with my kind of content.

Today’s plan

  • Finish Bad Wolf (yes, I’m THAT close)
  • Bang out at least three chapters in Dance With the Devil

Before I sign off today, I’m curious about you guys. I have a LOT of followers here on the bloggy blog. Comment below and let me know who you are! Blogger? Author? Reader? If you are an author or blogger, drop me your websiite link so I can come check you out!

Okay, I’m off. These books aren’t going to write themselves. 😉

Hey Guys! I just completed my first entry in the Flash Fiction Challenge!

Good afternoon, humans!

So this week’s news is a little bit of fun. 🙂 I recently launched a weekly writing exercise through my PR company called the Flash Fiction Challenge and in the wee hours this morning, I posted my first challenge entry.

The challenge assignment everyone was given was:

“Hold on. You died.”
“Yeah, well, it didn’t stick.”

For those unfamiliar, with a flash fiction challenge, you’re given a prompt to build a super-short story around it posted on Wattpad. For example, my first challenge ended up finishing out at 1,669 words (most novels are 40,000-80,000 words long). See? Super short. 🙂

If you enjoy writing, whether it be as a hobby or professionally, you should consider joining! It’s a quick little activity every week to keep your writer brain in shape. It’s totally FREE and a lot of fun. 🙂

READ MY FIRST CHALLENGE ENTRY!

(It only takes about 3 minutes.)

Happy reading!

NIGHTSHADE now available to read for FREE on WattPad!

A STANDALONE BONNIE BENNETT BOOK IN THE VAMPIRE DIARIES / THE ORIGINALS UNIVERSE.

Bourbon, jazz, and streets soaked in magic. New Orleans is an infamous supernatural playground, and the perfect place for a witch to feel right at home.

When Bonnie Bennett travels to The Big Easy for some much needed rest and relaxation, she unexpectedly encounters a few familiar faces. Despite their violent history and her resulting efforts to steer clear of Mikaelson family drama, she soon finds herself agreeing to help Klaus when his brother Elijah goes missing. Assuming they could get a little aid from the local covens, they quickly realize the eldest original vampire isn’t the only mysterious disappearance in the Crescent City.

The clock is ticking. With the help of her unlikely ally and a handful of new friends from the French quarter, Bonnie must face off with a dark force fueled by vengeance and hell bent on wiping out every New Orleans witch in existence.

*Originally published as part of the Bennett Witch Chronicles series in the Amazon Vampire Diaries Kindle Worlds. With the dissolution of Amazon’s Kindle Worlds program, I’m making the story available on Wattpad for free.

WHAT READERS ARE SAYING…

“The storyline was so well written and captivating that I did not put my tablet down until I turned the last page.”

– 5 Stars, YA/NA Book Divas

“I absolutely love this addition to The Vampire Diaries, The Bennett Witch Chronicles. There are some fabulous authors included in this series with some outstanding reads. Jena Gregoire’s Nightshade happens to be one of them. This book is full of mystery, suspense, intrigue, magic, action, and humor and includes appearances from two of the original vampires residing in New Orleans, Klaus and Elijah Mikaelson, as well as Bonnie’s Mystic Fall’s friends. Ms. Gregoire does a wonderful job of world building to capture your attention from the start to the end of this story. Bonnie and her friends are well written characters with a great storyline that includes lots of excitement, mystery and magic. This is a compelling book you do not want to miss out on.”
