Hey peeps! I let you all know on Saturday’s blog post, but in case you missed it, I spent a good portion of my weekend writing (yay!!!). However, yesterday I spent most of the day fighting a really bad headache. Since I was stuck in bed, I decided to watch a few movies. Are we really surprised?
In this post:
- Micro-Review of The Judge
Drama starring Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Duvall - Micro-Review of Going Clear
Documentary on the inner workings of the Church of Scientology. - Writing Update
THE JUDGE MICRO-REVIEW
Starring Robert Downey Jr., Robert Duvall, Vera Farmiga, Vincent D’Onofrio
Released October 10, 2014
I love RDJ. Like, hard core. Last fall, when he was out and about promoting the shit out of the movie, it looked interesting enough, but I was in the midst of finishing Speak of the Devil and breaking away to go out to a movie just wasn’t possible.
As I was lying in bed dying from a headache which can only be described as someone jamming a hot poker in my eye socket, I saw that The Judge was available on OnDemand. I wasn’t going anywhere and I had been looking forward to it, so, I ordered the flick and settled in to watch.
And I cried.
I mean I cried a LOT.
If you’re expecting Tony Stark, you’re going to be disappointed. The Judge is a really sweet drama. If you’ve ever been estranged from any of your family, this film is going to hit home, really hard.
The performances from RDJ and Duvall are absolutely incredible, as well as the rest of the cast. I have no idea how much money this flick pulled in the box office, but everyone should watch this movie.
Like, now.
*taps foot*
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?!?!
Oh, wait! You have to finish reading this first! THEN go watch it.
GOING CLEAR MICRO-REVIEW
Documentary
Released January 25, 2015
Oh…….my……..glob…….
I knew very little about the Church of Scientology prior to watching this documentary, but I quickly learned that L. Ron Hubbard was rockin’ his own special brand of crazy. This was an extremely eye-opening film, end to end. Highly recommended, but know that it is a documentary which exposes the CoS in a less-than-stellar light. I was exhausted and battling a headache when I watched it, so, I will probably be watching it again. Lol
WHAT I DID THIS WEEKEND
As I said, I spent a lot of the weekend writing. I got a few thousand words of Dance With the Devil banged out when that pesky untitled romance decided to take over. I’ve never planned on writing a contemporary romance, but the story won’t go away, so, I figured I would let it ride until I ran out of things to write in it.
And it’s still going.
I have set it aside for the day to get more in Dance done, but, Mondays at my day job are insanely busy and I haven’t written a single word. I am, however, hoping to remedy that when I get home.
It seems like every time I turn around, my series keeps changing from the original plan. Well, another change popped up last night. This one won’t lengthen the series at all, it’s just going to change who the players are in the big finale. I am super-excited to see how all of it plays out!
That’s it for today. Well, that, and this guy (just because):
