About Negative Reviews
When Jena accepts a review request, she promises a fair and honest assessment of the story. However, she only writes a text review if the book is 3+ stars. For 1 or 2 star reviews, she will post her rating to Amazon, BookBub, and/or Goodreads but it will not be published to her blog. Books that Jena doesn’t complete are shelved on Goodreads as DNF (“did not finish”) and no star rating is left.
The spice level of a book is the level of sexually explicit content. Jena Gregoire’s book blog features books which vary across the spectrum of spicy content. For the sake of giving her readers an accurate expectation of content, Jena uses the following scale:
⛔ – No spice. Completely clean or non-romantic title.
🌶️ – One blushing virgin short of a Disney flick.
🌶️🌶️ – There is sexy time but not one single person gets choked.
🌶️🌶️🌶️ – A decent R-rated party.
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ – May get you banned from churches.
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ – This book will murder you if you have a heart condition.
A book review is not the same thing as a book report. The purpose of the Jena’s book blog is to help readers find books to love. If Jena’s reviews were filled with spoilers, there would be no reason for the reader to dive into the book because they’ve already been told what happens. All of Jena’s reviews are spoiler-free.
