TEASER: Dance With the Devil (Demon Legacy #3) Snippet – Coming Soon!

Okay, I’ve threatened to show this to you guys for a long time now, but frankly, I’ve been too chicken shit to post it. lol So, without further ado, here’s the chapter from DANCE WITH THE DEVIL that I’ve been promising for the last month. 😉

jena sig 2015

*** PLEASE NOTE: This is unedited, so please be kind. lol And dont steal it. I own it. It’s mine. Stealing it would make you a gigantic asshole. That is all. ENJOY!***

*** I lied. One more note. The song the band is playing in this scene is No Jesus Christ by Seether. If you really want to get all zen about it, play the song while you read. 😉

Okay, now you can go read. I promise I’ll shut up. If you need me, I’ll be in the corner rocking back and forth like a trauma victim. ****

DanceWithTheDevil_amazonDemon hunting sucks.

Dez and Vegas decide to take the summer off to relax and be a normal couple for once. They quickly fall back into their old routine, mostly evenings spent together at Onyx. The nightclub for the supernatural denizens of New York City now hosts live bands and DJ’s nightly, and Dez is elated to find the club at capacity seven days a week.

Everything seemed perfect…until it wasn’t.

Without warning, their cozy life together gets tipped on its axis. Dez isn’t acting like herself, and Vegas believes something mystical is to blame.

Will Vegas get to the bottom of things before it’s too late, or will he lose her forever?

The #AmWriting Preorder Link is NOW LIVE!!!!!!!! A Collection of Letters to Benefit @TheWayneFDN

Good morning, bibliojunkies! Just a few months ago, this was just an idea tossed around between some friends, and today, we’re one step closer to seeing it in print.  🙂  #AmWriting’s preorder link is officially live!  I’m so excited about this project, and so are all the wonderful authors who contributed their words to make it happen.  Not only do the proceeds benefit The Wayne Foundation, our hope is that the book itself will encourage other artists.  Good juju all around!  🙂

I wont be around much today.  I have a long list of PR work to do for some new clients who came on board, and then I am working on formatting the print and ebook versions of #AmWriting.  That’s a new experience for me as well, but I started it a few nights ago, and I am soooooooooo happy with how it’s coming out.  Cant wait for you guys to see it!  🙂

I have a super-huge favor to ask of you guys.  The #AmWriting project has a HeadTalker campaign open for release day.  If you’re not familiar with how it works, HeadTalker is what’s called a crowd-sourcing platform.  You give a one-time authorization for your social media account to allow Headtalker to post our campaign message at the end of the campaign (the message for this campaign announces that #AmWriting is released). It’s an automated process, so that’s all you have to do. It’s a quick, painless way to help support authors and get the word out about this great project, and it doesn’t cost a dime.  🙂  If you’d like to support the campaign, you can do so by clicking this link.  On the campaign page, you can support it with your Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and/or LinkedIn.  🙂  That’s it.  Just the click of a button.  🙂

Okay, I’m off.  LOTS of work to do today.  🙂  Happy Hump Day, bitches!  😉

AmWriting Ebook

Knowing what you know now of writing, publishing, and putting your art out into the world, if you could go back to the day you sat down to start typing in your very first manuscript, what words would you offer to yourself?  Words of encouragement?  Words of advice?  Caution against certain pitfalls?  Would you change anything about how you got to where you are today?

The publishing community is so much bigger than it was before the self-publishing boom and it continues to grow exponentially every day.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t come with a handbook or support group.  #AmWriting is a collection of letters written by authors from all different corners of the publishing community.  The letters provide words of encouragement or advice to those just starting out or those who have become discouraged in their art.  At Pure Textuality PR, we believe in supporting each other as a community, and we felt this project would be a good way to bring writers together and maybe give some new artists just the right nudge to keep going.

100% of the net proceeds of #AmWriting will be donated to The Wayne Foundation, a charity dedicated to offering aid and services to young women victimized by illegal sexual exploitation and the sexual trafficking of minors.  For more information about The Wayne Foundation, you can visit them on the web at

A quick check-in, #Supernatural style. ;) #amwriting

Good evening, everyone!  🙂  I did one of these a while back as a little writer-to-writer present for my friend Liz Long.  This one is a quick update and a shout out to my new (and some old) friends is the #SPNFamily Support Group on Facebook.  These ladies enjoy Supernatural as much as I do, and I wanted to let them know why I wont be around much for the next few days.  So, ladies, this is for you.  😉

I’m not going to be around the group much in the next week or so, and I wanted to explain why…..Supernatural style.

Elizabeth York, the Asshat Thief, and Why Every Artist Should Want to SCREAM Right Now

My Facebook went BANANAS this weekend.

And with damn good reason.

I am careful what I speak about online because I think we have a real problem with outrage culture right now, but this is something that NEEDS to be addressed.  Not just for authors, but for artists in general.

Elizabeth York is a name you may or may not be familiar with.  She’s a biggie in the indie world, and a straight up sweetheart.  This weekend, she posted the following:

E York Part 1

This one post lit a firestorm across the internet because it once again spotlights an issue authors have been facing for a while now.  Let’s be clear, what this reader is admitting to is NO DIFFERENT than ebook piracy.  We’ll get into that more in a minute.  First, Ms. York’s post from the following day:

E York Part 2

I’m writing this post as a plea with my fellow readers and writers.  There is a petition going around to try to get Amazon to reverse their return policy on ebooks.  PLEASE SIGN IT.  As of right now, if I go to and purchase a digital movie or mp3, I cannot return these items unless Amazon can see that no one has watched or downloaded the item.  I know this for sure because I woke up one morning and my man cub had been surfing the Amazon Fire Stick and purchased a season of one of the Transformers cartoons ($40) and immediately realized it was the wrong Transformers series.  Amazon customer service was awesome and returned the item for me, but explained that the only reason they could was because they could see that no one had watched the video.  Had anyone watched it, the return would not have been allowed.

This. Policy. Makes. Sense.

And yet….

Her final statement to the author is the biggest problem in this whole situation:  “We shouldn’t have to pay for the stories in your head.”

Ummmm, actually, that’s sorta kinda the way this shit works.

As an artist, I am a business.  What I create (write) is my product.  A business should get paid for the product they produce.  That’s Econ 101, bitches.

Wil Wheaton wrote a piece a while back regarding how writers should get paid for what they write (sites like Huffington Post run on free content from writers and they make money hand over fist with advertising on that same content) in response to a laughable situation (HP as idiots), but his point holds true in this situation as well.

You Cant Pay Your Rent With “The Unique Platform and Reach Our Site Provides”

I don’t know what the going rate is for something like this. At six cents a word, which is SFWAs lowest professional rate for short fiction (not a perfect comparison, but at least something to reference that’s similar), it would be $210. That’s not nothing, but it’s not house payment money. Maybe I should have just taken their fabulous offer of exposure?

I don’t think so, because it’s the principle of the thing. Huffington Post is valued at well over fifty million dollars, and the company can absolutely afford to pay contributors. The fact that it doesn’t, and can get away with it, is distressing to me.WilW Tweet

In a case like Huffington Post, you’re giving your content away voluntarily.  When an author writes a book, we publish that work with the intention of selling our art.

In ANY OTHER SITUATION, returning an item which has been used completely would not be accepted.  You don’t go to the grocery store, buy the makings for dinner, and then bring back the leftovers asking for a refund.  You don’t fill your car’s gas tank, drive until it stalls out, and then demand a refund for the purchased gas.  You don’t walk into Walmart, purchase a couch, and then return it after your dog has chewed off the legs.  These are all examples of items that were purchased and used COMPLETELY.  Buying a book, reading it (USING IT!!!!!), and then returning it is the same exact thing.

So why the hell is Amazon allowing it?!?!?!?!?!

The petition that’s circulating on isn’t begging Amazon to make it so you can’t return ebooks.  The petition is asking them to change their policy so readers can’t return ebooks after they’ve been read beyond the 15% mark.

I think we have all accidentally one-clicked something at some point.  No biggie.  Return it and get the item you meant to.  However, if you read an entire book, and then return it, you, sir or madame, are an asshole.

No, Sammy.  You’re wrong.
They’re assholes and thieves.  Plain and simple.

bag of dicks

If you don’t know by 15% in that you’ve got the wrong book, you have other, larger problems happening than your one-click habits….

And habits.  This is another thing I want to address.  If you can’t afford the ebook, DON’T BUY THE EBOOK.  I can’t afford the Aston Martin I want, so I don’t go and buy one.  LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS.  If you can’t control your spending habits, shut off your one-click settings.

As an artist, I’m pissed.  We fight tooth and nail to end ebook piracy, and THIS is what people are doing to get around it, something that Amazon doesn’t even allow with any of their other digital content.

So, fellow readers and writers, I’m begging you.  SIGN THE PETITION.  Share the link with all your reader/writer friends.  Make Amazon hear our voices.

By allowing the returns, they are allowing the theft, and therefore, they are contributing to the problem.

It’s on like Donkey Kong!

That was dumb.  I’m not Australian…

Tonight begins my big push to get Dance With the Devil completed.  My son goes to his dad’s house for a 4-day stretch thanks to April vacation from school.  My daughter wont be home until Friday evening, but I can write with her here.  She’s 15 and spends most of her time on Skype with her boyfriend or BFF anyway.  *shrug*

I’m afraid to even say this out loud, but my hope is to have the first draft complete by Sunday night at Game of Thrones time.  If I am super-strict about my use of time, I should be able to pull it off.  I really don’t have much left of the book to write.  I just need to get it through my head that I don’t need to edit as I write.  That’s probably my biggest hang up/hindrance when trying to get a book finished.  I need to learn to NOT do that, and catch those errors and such during my first read-through.

I mentioned to you guys that I am currently listening to Felicia Day’s book You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost).  It’s a great book, but I just listened to a part where she summed up my problem perfectly when describing her own struggles with it (paraphrasing because I don’t remember it word-for-word):  I long to create, but getting everything from my head to paper is like pulling teeth.  In the book she suggests surrounding yourself with a team of people who all push you and give you the kick in the ass of keep going.  I tried that.  lol  It hasn’t worked yet, but I do feel a little better knowing that someone as awesome as Felicia Day struggles with the same problem I have.

NEWS!!!  So, I decided to do what I have advised people to avoid doing, and I’m putting all my eggs in one basket.  I have moved my entire catalog of titles over to KDP Select.  This means all of my work is now exclusive to Amazon, and those of you who subscribe to Kindle Unlimited now can get all of my books for free.  🙂  I’ve held off on making this move for a good long time, but in reviewing my taxes from the two years, I haven’t sold a single ebook on Kobo and Nook in FOREVER.  Since I obviously dont have an audience there, I figured giving KDP Select a try would be worth it.

Burning  |  The Devil You Know  |  Suffering  |  Speak of the Devil

So, wish me luck on my big 4-day push.  My hope is that the next blog post I send off to you fine mofos will be a big picture of the words THE END on my screen.  I just need to stay motivated and stay OFF THE INTERNET.  😉

Guys, I couldn’t put it down!!! #bookreview #RoyalSavage by @VictoriaAauthor

I picked this up a few weeks ago. It must have been on sale or something because contemporary romance purchases do not happen very often on my Kindle account. I remember seeing the cover on Facebook, and once I was done wiping the steady stream of drool from my chin, I one-clicked that shit.

Yesterday, I worked straight through to 7pm with no breaks, so at the end of the day, writing was the last thing on my mind. I hit up my Kindle library in search of something to read and found the cover again.

Like, seriously?!? Can someone point me in the general direction of where they are growing boys that look like him??? I’m there. I’m so there.

LOOK AT THAT COVER!  (*licks computer screen……….again*)

Anyway, I cracked ROYAL SAVAGE, read the first chapter, and I was sold. The first chapter drops you in the middle of a horrific scene, with little-to-no detail about what’s happening. You just know it is *not* good. As hooks go, that first chapter is a damn good one!  I started reading at about 9pm and didn’t put it down until I read THE END at about 3am.  This post is my review of the book.  🙂

jena sig 2015

I CAN’T CLOSE MY EYES… I refuse to. Every time I do, all I see is blood, death, and pain. I can feel it – almost taste it, bringing me back to that night.

It doesn’t matter that I’m still breathing; I no longer need it, I no longer want it. I despise it along with everything else around me.
The only thing I long for is to fucking fade away. I’ve given up. Until her at least…

She comes into my world, knocking me on my ass.

It turns me on to have her around me. Makes me want to wrap my hand around her tight little throat and fuck her until she feels my pain, feels the monster in me, but also makes me want to protect her from the very thing that she should be afraid of… me.

Once she sees the damage that I’m capable of; she’ll look at me like everyone else around me does: with fear.

HIS EYES… THE DARKNESS IN them draws me to him, making me want to taste him, feel him… and save him. I shouldn’t have gotten on the back of his motorcycle that day. I know that now. Colton warned me. I was told it was dangerous. I was told that nothing would be the same. He was right.

ROYAL is dangerous, dark, and seductive; the very thing that keeps me hanging on, willing to give my last breath just to touch him… breathe him in.

He’s savage, inked, and highly captivating. So different from his brother…

He’s hazardous to my health, mind, and body, yet the only thing that I crave. I want to free him. I want to change his mind, but I’m afraid that he’s already too faded…

COVER REVEAL: #AmWriting, A Collection of Letters to Benefit #TheWayneFoundation (@TheWayneFDN)

Good morning, loves!  As I mentioned in my post last night, we’re kicking this Monday morning off with a cover reveal for a project I am super-proud of.  The project itself is for a good cause, I get to work with a lot of great writers while putting it together (INCLUDING JEANIENE FROST!!!), Pure Textuality PR is acting in the capacity of a publisher again, and I created the cover.

I cant wait for the day we hit publish on this book. The letters that are rolling in are beautiful, sweet, and funny. Some are sarcastic. Some make you get all teary. They’re all good and they show that no matter what you write, no matter who your audience is, we’re all going through the same things along our individual paths, even if we’re not talking about it.

Anyway, enough gushing. Go check out the cover and dont forget to pick up your copy on June 7th.  😉

Emotionally preparing for tonight’s @GameOfThrones, @FeliciaDay’s book, & Forsaken Angels

‘Sup bitches? I’m spending my day creating, bouncing back and forth between working on Dance With the Devil and creating some new book covers.  I’m hoping to have the rough draft completed in the next two weeks (*crossables crossed*).  Sine both kids are out of the house today, that’s my main focus.  🙂

Speaking of Dance With the Devil, this book features a group of characters you haven’t met yet.  They’re a band called Forsaken Angels.  You’ve seen snippets featuring a dude named Silas.  Well, Silas is the lead singer.  When I release Dance With the Devil in July, I’m going to run a TeeSpring campaign for Forsaken Angels hoodies, the net proceeds of which will be donated to a charity of my choosing.  I haven’t chosen the charity yet, but I promise it’ll be good.  🙂

Forsaken Angels Logo for blog post

OH!! And on the charity front, keep your peepers on the Bloggy Blog tomorrow morning because I’m revealing the cover to #AmWriting, A Collection of Letters to Benefit The Wayne Foundation.  I’m super-excited about this project.  The closer and closer we get to publishing day, the more I feel like we’re doing a good thing.  It gives me a hardcore case of the warm fuzzies.

This morning, I picked up the audio book for You’re Never Weird On the Internet (Almost) by Felicia Day.  I adore this chick in every way possible and spotted a post on Fizzy Bizzy about her book tour that’s happening right now.  I got all stupid excited only to find that she isn’t coming anywhere near here.  *insert sad face here*  BUT, seeing the post reminded me that she wrote a damn book!  People, let me tell you, Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy and WRITING DEITY (#InJossWeTrust), wrote and read the forward.  I was reduced to a gooey pile of feels, and seeing Felicia Day through his eyes only made me love her a little bit more.  🙂  I’m about two hours into it so far and it’s fantastic.  Very witty and funny and just the right amount of awkward thrown in to make you really understand that she’s as human as her readers.  I’ll do a full review-type post here once I finish listening to it.  🙂

I also finished my great, big rewatch of Supernatural.  The ladies who are on their maiden watch in the #SPNFamily Supprt Group haven’t finished yet, but they’re cruising right along.  I wish, for just one day, that I could sit in on writers’ meetings for that show.  The thing I love about the show is the ongoing series arc.  There are soooooooo many call backs to shit that happened in the early days of the show.  I didn’t really grasp how much they tie together until I binge-watched ten seasons in twelve days.  lol  Also, a LOT has happened over the course of the show’s eleven years.  I cant wait to see where season twelve takes the Winchesters.  🙂

I’m going to do some notebook writing for the rest of the evening until go time for the Game of Thrones season premiere.  I dont think I’m emotionally prepared for tonight’s episode.  I think I might have to make myself some hot cocoa or something.  lol  I’m rewatching the last three episodes of season five before start time.    Sigh……  I’m pretty sure I know the fate of my beloved Jon Snow, but the suits in the HBO writers’ room dont tend to be that nice to fans.  lol  Plus, they’ve got to be privy to whatever plan GRRM has for the series, but he’s already stated that they’re not obligated to follow it, especially where the series is now caught up with the books.  Anyway, it’s going to be good, not matter what.  Join me on my Facebook page for tonight’s episode of GoT.  It’s going to be a lot of spoiler-free commentary.  lol

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  🙂  See you back here bright and early tomorrow morning.  🙂
