I’m a few days later than planned due to some unexpected wrinkles that needed ironing out but I have a fat, juicy email full of bookish goodies for you today! I have two covers (ebook and paperback – hardcover dust jacket and discreet covers are still coming), a blurb, a microtropes list reveal for you spice lovers, a preorder link, TBR shelving links, and a series brand.
As I explained during my epic display of writerly verbal spillage last week, Made Woman is the first installment in the Dark Syndicates world but the way the stories are structured, they can be read in any order. There are technically spoilers here and there for other books but they are largely placed without the context you’d need to understand that they are spoilers. Although you can’t identify the spoilers for what the are, I did try to only include them where absolutely necessary. Only dropped in sparingly. Later on, when multiple books are published, those breadcrumbs will be like little winks to the readers who know.

Did you know that the first time I hit the publish button on KDP was fourteen years ago? I have never been nervous about a book release. Excited? Yes, but actual nerves, like, freaking out and having anxiety dreams kind of nerves? Never. That is, until now. Made Woman has crossed off a lot of firsts for me as a writer. It’s my first non-fantasy novel. Everything else I’ve written before now has involved fangs and/or claws. The benefit of writing fantasy is that when something doesn’t make sense to the human laws of the universe, you blame a spell or write the need into your world’s magic lore. There was no falling back on any of that with this novel. I had to build out a world believable to a contemporary reader. It’s the first book I’ve written that can be read complete standalone. Yes, the novels will be interconnected but each novel truly stands on its own. A new reader will be able to start anywhere. My urban fantasy romance world is dynamic. If you don’t begin those at book one and read through, they make no sense. That wont be a problem in the Dark Syndicates world. It’s the first book I’ve written that’s open-door spicy. Now, I did not go the high volume route of the L.O.R.D.S. series with sexual content but on a spice scale of 1-5 chili peppers, it’s solidly clocking in at 4 chilis. It’s my first book with a high retail price. It’s because of the length of the book. It’s more than double the length of my longest book published prior to this. But fear not! Made Woman is also enrolled in the Kindle Unlimited reading program. Come release day, you’ll be able to add it to your library.
