I’ve thought about writing this post since the first #MeToo allegations started coming out but didn’t say anything out of fear. See, I’m a chick, and the internet HATES IT when a chick says, “but what if she’s lying?” If you deign to suggest the proposed victim might be full of shit, suddenly you’re accused of “victim blaming” whether you pointed a finger of fault or not.
This morning, I woke up to the news that Chloe Dykstra had passively made accusations of emotional and sexual abuse via an unlisted post on Medium. In the post, she doesn’t actually come right out and say his name, but she really didn’t need to. To any longtime Chris Hardwick fan or Nerdist podcast listener, it was obvious simply due to the timeline details she included.
The accusations include all the classic signs of someone who is emotionally abusive—isolation from friends and family, controlling behavior and rules, hardcore possessiveness—and goes as far as to say that she let him sexually assault her regularly because she was expected to be ready to go the minute he got home.
As soon as I saw the headline, I ran out to read her post. Now to be clear, I’m not saying she’s full of shit. At all. She may be speaking 100% truth in every word. I wasn’t there. You weren’t there. But that’s exactly my point. Regardless of the fact that neither of us were there, the court of public opinion is in full swing and they’ve already reached a verdict. We’ve seen it happen many times over already and I think it’s safe to say that Hardwick’s career is over. Legendary Entertainment scrubbed him from the Nerdist website already, immediately issuing a statement putting a chasm of space between him and the empire he built “pending further investigation”:
“Chris Hardwick had no operational involvement with Nerdist for the two years preceding the expiration of his contract in December 2017,” the Nerdist statement read. “He no longer has any affiliation with Legendary Digital Networks. The company has removed all reference to Mr. Hardwick even as the original Founder of Nerdist pending further investigation.” Legendary Entertainment
Well, that’s great and all but there wont be any “further investigation”, will there? Dykstra didn’t go to the authorities. She went to the internet, the court of public opinion, even though she claims to have audio and video evidence supporting her case. So that’s it. His career is over, guilty or not. There is no coming back from social media deciding you’re a monster. It’s done. Fin. They’re already moving on to the next case.
Good evening, party people! I know it’s been a while since I wrote a check in post but I’m getting back into the swing of things, I promise. Now that I’m getting closer to the release dates, my schedule is easing up a bit which allows me more time for the fun stuff, like this evening’s post.
Next Tuesday marks the release of Secrets in the Shadows, the first anthology in the Summer of Supernaturals series (hosted by my PR company Pure Textuality PR and Paranormal & Urban Fantasy Book Bargains). My piece featured in that anthology is VANISHING, Jack’s origin story.
If you read The Devil You Know the first time it was available, then you have already met Jack, albeit briefly. He’s the weretiger who manages Onyx, Dez’s bar in Manhattan. In The Devil You Know, you really don’t know anything about him outside of the minimum facts. He doesn’t play a very major role in the series until Dance With the Devil, the third book in the Hellfire series.
This short story is my way of giving you a glimpse into who he is and where he came from. In advance of the story, I have added a picture to my Hellfire World Pinterest Board so you could get a look at who I see when I’m writing Jack.
Ya damn right. Jai Courtney. He’s so pretty…. And to me, he looks like a guy who could feasibly turn into a tiger if he were a shifter.
If you haven’t gotten a chance, pop over to my Hellfire World Pinterest board and see how my idea of my characters stands up to what you had pictured in your head. Prepare yourself, it’s an insanely pretty cast. 😉
Hey peeps! Just popping in real quick to share this. My daughter is a HUGE Black Veil Brides fan and turned me on to their music (they’re amazeballs). Well, Andy, the uberhot and mad talented lead singer was a guest star on Fatman on Batman, the Dark Knight lovin’ comedy podcast. If you’re just looking for his portion of the podcast, skip forward to approx 1 hour and 3 minutes. He appears just shortly after that. But if you dig Batman as much as I do, it’s a fantastic podcast. Check it out. 🙂 Enjoy!

@ 6pm EST
Good evening, everyone! 🙂 I did one of these a while back as a little writer-to-writer present for my friend Liz Long. This one is a quick update and a shout out to my new (and some old) friends is the #SPNFamily Support Group on Facebook. These ladies enjoy Supernatural as much as I do, and I wanted to let them know why I wont be around much for the next few days. So, ladies, this is for you. 😉
I’m not going to be around the group much in the next week or so, and I wanted to explain why…..Supernatural style.
‘Sup bitches? I’m spending my day creating, bouncing back and forth between working on Dance With the Devil and creating some new book covers. I’m hoping to have the rough draft completed in the next two weeks (*crossables crossed*). Sine both kids are out of the house today, that’s my main focus. 🙂
Speaking of Dance With the Devil, this book features a group of characters you haven’t met yet. They’re a band called Forsaken Angels. You’ve seen snippets featuring a dude named Silas. Well, Silas is the lead singer. When I release Dance With the Devil in July, I’m going to run a TeeSpring campaign for Forsaken Angels hoodies, the net proceeds of which will be donated to a charity of my choosing. I haven’t chosen the charity yet, but I promise it’ll be good. 🙂
OH!! And on the charity front, keep your peepers on the Bloggy Blog tomorrow morning because I’m revealing the cover to #AmWriting, A Collection of Letters to Benefit The Wayne Foundation. I’m super-excited about this project. The closer and closer we get to publishing day, the more I feel like we’re doing a good thing. It gives me a hardcore case of the warm fuzzies.
This morning, I picked up the audio book for You’re Never Weird On the Internet (Almost) by Felicia Day. I adore this chick in every way possible and spotted a post on Fizzy Bizzy about her book tour that’s happening right now. I got all stupid excited only to find that she isn’t coming anywhere near here. *insert sad face here* BUT, seeing the post reminded me that she wrote a damn book! People, let me tell you, Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy and WRITING DEITY (#InJossWeTrust), wrote and read the forward. I was reduced to a gooey pile of feels, and seeing Felicia Day through his eyes only made me love her a little bit more. 🙂 I’m about two hours into it so far and it’s fantastic. Very witty and funny and just the right amount of awkward thrown in to make you really understand that she’s as human as her readers. I’ll do a full review-type post here once I finish listening to it. 🙂
I also finished my great, big rewatch of Supernatural. The ladies who are on their maiden watch in the #SPNFamily Supprt Group haven’t finished yet, but they’re cruising right along. I wish, for just one day, that I could sit in on writers’ meetings for that show. The thing I love about the show is the ongoing series arc. There are soooooooo many call backs to shit that happened in the early days of the show. I didn’t really grasp how much they tie together until I binge-watched ten seasons in twelve days. lol Also, a LOT has happened over the course of the show’s eleven years. I cant wait to see where season twelve takes the Winchesters. 🙂
I’m going to do some notebook writing for the rest of the evening until go time for the Game of Thrones season premiere. I dont think I’m emotionally prepared for tonight’s episode. I think I might have to make myself some hot cocoa or something. lol I’m rewatching the last three episodes of season five before start time. Sigh…… I’m pretty sure I know the fate of my beloved Jon Snow, but the suits in the HBO writers’ room dont tend to be that nice to fans. lol Plus, they’ve got to be privy to whatever plan GRRM has for the series, but he’s already stated that they’re not obligated to follow it, especially where the series is now caught up with the books. Anyway, it’s going to be good, not matter what. Join me on my Facebook page for tonight’s episode of GoT. It’s going to be a lot of spoiler-free commentary. lol
Hope everyone had a great weekend! 🙂 See you back here bright and early tomorrow morning. 🙂
Good afternoon, party people! 🙂 I already knocked out my work to-do list for the day, and tonight I’m planning on a writing session. I also have to pick out the quote for this coming Tuesday’s teaser reveal for Dance With the Devil. 🙂 I’m getting more and more excited about this book. I also came up with a list of potential titles because the addition I’m making to Dance right now makes it so the series could actually go on a lot longer than I originally intended. Now, that being said, I honestly dont have storylines mapped out for any of those titles yet. I just decided to bank them for now and if stories come to me, great, I’ll write them. But if nothing comes to me, nothing comes to me. *shrug*
I’ve decided I’m going to have the cover of Burning redone. Although I love the bad guy in that short story, it’s not really his. It’s Lucas and Natalia’s story. Additionally, it doesn’t look much at all like the rest of the series and I would like it to look like it belongs. Of course, once it’s redone, I will share it here, but I haven’t even picked out the images I want yet. When I have the cover redone, I’m also going to take a quick pass over the story and when I release the cover, the file will be updated with a new, longer second edition as well. 🙂
Not much else going on today. It’s a relatively quiet day here in the Batcave. 🙂 I’m making up some premades today, so I might check in later to show you guys. Later taters!
I know, I know. I missed yesterday’s post, but it’s because I was up until 3am typing out a 4,000+ word blog post for the Pure Textuality PR blog. I decided to share it here as well because I know a good portion of my audience here on the Bloggy Blog are writers as well. Even if you’re not a writer, you might be able to find a way to make this work for you. 😉 Enjoy!
Recently, I have been posting EVERYWHERE about how much I love Asana and how much it has helped me out with all things Pure Textuality PR related. I’ve also mentioned to a bunch of writers that it can help them out. After discussing it with an author on my Facebook page, I decided it might be high time to do up a blog post to show you how Asana can benefit you and your writing career.
The driving force behind how a writer manages a good portion of their career is cost. The great thing about Asana is you can have a team of up to 15 people in your Asana workspace before you have to pay a dime. As long as your team is under 15 people, you’re golden grahams and the tool is totally free. Now, that being said, you can create more than one workspace. You can have one for your writing, one for your marketing, and one for your street team if you have so many people working with you that it’s required. But, if everyone on your team (PA, writing partners, street team, etc.) amounts to 15 or less people, you can keep everything in one workspace.
I know I am probably speaking Greek at this point, but dont worry. We’ll clear up what all of this means. Just remember, it’s free, it comes with a free app available for both Android and iPhone (which in itself makes life worlds easier), and it’ll change your professional life. I also promise you, once you know how to navigate it, it’s one of the most user friendly tools you will ever encounter. This is a great tool for those of you with PAs! Just add them to your workspace.
Ready?? Let’s go!
DISCLAIMER: I am in no way sponsored by or affiliated with Asana, with the exception of being a satisfied user of theirs. For my own use, I use Asana to manage EVERYTHING – Pure Textuality, Pure Textuality PR, From Helios to Hollywood (our brand new podcast), and My Writing/Beta group. Absolutely everything. It’s never glitched. It’s never failed me. All of my clients have learned to navigate it with extreme ease. The app is sooooooo easy to use because it functions much like the website. Once you know you’re way around the site and get comfy with how everything works, the app is a BREEZE.
I started watching Supernatural a few years back. At the time, I didn’t know many people who were into the show. Then I admitted to liking it online and found out that the #SPNFamily is staggering. It doesn’t matter the social media platform, it’s easy to find someone who is as big a fan as you are.
Even more fun is corrupting the innocence of others. *insert evil grin here*
Which is what led to five little words ruining my life all over again…
Good afternoon, party people! I’m hard at work doing the PR thing today, but this evening, I will be writing. I know I have some writers in my readership. Anyone interested in sprinting? Let me know. I’m thinking 5pm-7pm EST.
I have a sale pending on one of the premade covers I did for Pure Textuality PR. 🙂 The author already has the story as it’s going to be based on her own life events. Cant wait to see it on bookshelves! 🙂

Okay, so I am really late in the day getting this blog post up but its because I wanted to be able to include some samples. Today was the start of me offering premade covers through my author Facebook Group.
If you’re an author and you’re interested in any of these covers, I’ve provided the details at the bottom of the post. But that’s not why I’m showing you. lol I just wanted to share. 🙂
The rest of them are just one version.
I have more coming soon, but for the rest of the night, I will be working on Dance With the Devil. 🙂 Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I will talk to you tomorrow! 🙂
