This is it, guys. This is my big political post. If that’s not your thing, feel free to pass my blog on by this time around. I totally get it but the days of staying quiet have passed. And then this writing prompt came up on WordPress today and it perfectly fits the post I was already working on for today. So, my short answer is this: I would make it illegal for convicted felons to serve as President of the United States of America.
And here’s my WHY:
If you’re also concerned (i.e. !@#$% pissed) about what’s happening to this country, what follows is a whole mess of verbal vomit borne out of frustration and spiraling anxious thoughts on what the immediate future holds. I won’t lie. Most of this is angry and none of it is nice. There are even broad sweeping opinions about those who voted for this, and no, I’m not remotely sorry. While I acknowledge that some may say this isn’t helpful to the overall conversation, my very last uck-fay about their feelings died in November 2024.
TRIGGER WARNING: This post has content that some might find triggering. That’s mainly because the antagonist in my non-stop mental projection of worst case scenarios is a sexual predator, both in the eyes of the law and according to the twenty-four additional women who never got to see their cases be heard in a court of law. As a sexual assault survivor, I am 100% over having to censor the word rape with a fruit emoji 🍇. Does that word cause a visceral reaction? Yes and I hope that never changes. It should make people recoil in disgust. It should make people uncomfortable. It shoooooooould fill them with rage, regardless of their gender. I’m just saying, it happened to me, therefore I should be allowed to use the word. I’M TAKING IT BACK, DAMMIT.
So read on at your own risk. Know that my comments are moderated and I won’t be approving everything. You have your rules and I have mine. Thou shalt not suffer assholes. Or Fox News viewers with an internet connection and a staunch refusal to use it for anything but an echo chamber.
Oy! I’m throwing this highlighted bit in as a last ditch effort to make sure I have your attention and that you’re heeding the content warning. If you keep reading, you’re doubling down on your acknowledgement that you’re going to read naughty words, anti-Trump sentiments, and the suggested misuse of a jockstrap or two.
We good? Okay, good. Read on.
When the 2016 election happened, my mind ran away with me, constantly churning the possibilities of all the damage he could inflict from behind the Resolute desk. It ended up being four years of him testing the waters to see what he could get away with. Then, during the 2024 election cycle, he was handed the greatest gift a criminal dipshit could ever be given: a carte blanche hall pass from the Supreme Court.
“The decision, written by Chief Justice John Roberts, established a broad new immunity from prosecution, not just for Trump, but for past and future presidents, too. Presidents may not be prosecuted for exercising their “core” constitutional powers, and even in situations where former presidents might be prosecuted after leaving office, they are entitled to at least presumptive immunity from prosecution for official actions they took as president.“
Source: NPR
Read that again and tell me you don’t hear that the President can do whatever the fuck he/she wants now because as long as he/she feels it’s in service of the office, it’s legal beagle. I don’t give a shit if it’s Donald Trump or Donald Fucking Duck in that chair, the President should not be above the law. It’s the entire reason we have a three-branch government. The President should not have absolute power. If I hear one more Republican say Trump isn’t above the law, I’m going to forcefully gag them with Travis Kelce’s dirty jockstrap. Remember the Pepe le Pew cartoons where you could see the curly green fumes wafting up off his tail??? Yeah, it’s probably just like that.
The crazy thing is I couldn’t be bothered to give two dusty fucks about the man prior to him running for office in 2016. I knew he was an infamous bullshit artist who would file Chapter 11 bankruptcy to shake the Etch-a-Sketch any time his books got too heavy in the debts column. Six times since 1991 to the tune of almost a billion dollars, and the people he was doing business with were not big corporations. They were local-to-the-area construction companies who would be “lucky” enough to land the seemingly life-changing contract of building a project with the Trump name stamped on it. His modus operandi was to hire these companies and then just never pay them. Their bill would get wrapped into his bankruptcy, often tanking the business entirely because their coffers would run dry trying to get the contract paid. He did this over and over and over again. And yet, he is running this country for a second time largely based on the misconception that he’s a good businessman.
But here’s where I run out of patience: At this point, you’re either stupid or complicit. Oof, I know that sounds harsh. It should. The stupids cherry pick their news and willingly believe his bullshit even when they’re shown the truth. Even their choice of a news source is a blatantly stupid one. Fox News was ordered to pay out $787 million for lying about the Dominion voting machines being rigged, and yet, their viewers just re-elected a shriveled tangerine on the belief that the last election was stolen through said rigged voting machines. How do you just ignore that key piece of information and keep listening to them??? Their lies cost them almost a billion dollars and they’re still your trusted news source??? You’re being willfully fucking stupid.
The complicit folks are easy and there are two obvious groups. Sexual predators who are banking on the hope that under a Trump administration, there is a real chance of a blanket pardon to rapists just to bail himself out. Then there is the rich crowd who want to keep their money rather than paying their full share of taxes like the rest of us. DJT is one of them and he has done nothing if not prove that he is all about giving the long-suffering upper class the break they have so desperately yearned for… …. …. You can actually hear my eyes rolling, right?
Bitch, if you are still claiming ignorance, you are lying. He was found guilty of thirty-four felony counts and still got re-elected. He has been accused of a wide range of not keeping his fucking stubby paws to himself by at least twenty-five women, and in 2023, he was found liable of the sexual abuse of E. Jean Carroll. She nailed his ass to a wall with a civil suit banking a cool $5 million for having to endure his greasy hands on her body. Then, when he went in front of the media after the trial and called her a liar, claiming that he couldn’t have raped her because she was too ugly to be raped (paraphrasing), a judge bitch-slapped him hard for defamation and ordered him to pay Carroll another $83 million. And speaking of rapist piles of shit, Jeffrey the Child Fucker Epstein was his bestest bestie. He can deny it all he wants but the old (very orange) man seems to forget that A) the internet exists and B) so are people old enough to remember with their own wrinkly human brains. Fun Fact: Local libraries with decades of magazine back issues also exist. Google Trump and Epstein and then, as you’re perusing the massive cache of images and videos dating back to the 90s, keep in mind that GenAI images weren’t a thing until September 2022. If you’re looking at a pic dated before then and it doesn’t look obviously fake, it’s not. Oh! And the question! For a guy who supposedly loves to expose corruption and release secrets, watch him trip on his own droopy scrotum trying to dance around the question when asked if he will declassify the Epstein files. It’s fucking hilarious in a disturbingly creepy he-definitely-fucked-that-fourteen-year-old kind of way.
And to the journalists who insist on continuing to ask the question:
You are fucking adorable.
That’s never going to happen but please, do keep asking. It’s fun to watch him short-circuit on the spot and I desperately want to see the moment he blows his top over it.
Reds, that’s your President saying he’s 100% fine with protecting kiddie fuckers and rapists. How is that sitting with your good Christian values right now??? Hmmmm??? Also, if I have to hear one more Republican claim to be a part of the law and order party, I’m going to violently gag them with Mike Tyson’s dirty jockstrap. The butt part. Pepe le Pew, motherfucker.
Oh! Haha! Speaking of rapists, Mike Tyson, ladies and germs.
I mean, the same case could be argued against Mr. le Pew….
They really made a cartoon about a skunk spending his every waking moment
trying to fuck a cat who clearly doesn’t want to be there. Like, whose idea was that???
Okay, I’m moving on from the rapist thing because it’s just one thing. You guys, there have been a million things and he hasn’t even been President for a full two months. Political analysts continue to voice the opinion that we’re being hit with a mass quantity of changes specifically so no one can keep up with it. I think they’re ignoring the obvious: He’s doing all of this because he can. Don’t forget about the Supreme Court hall pass. For the last few weeks, the headlines are everyone screaming about whether Trump will have the balls to defy the court orders (a court tried stopping Elmo Tusk from fishing around in our government’s back office with a machete). Of course he will, dummies! He has a hall pass! Like, I get that July was a whole entire eight months ago but has the public already forgotten about that ruling?? I think it’s the most terrifying thing that’s happened in the last year.
Regardless of his continued assertion that he has nothing to do with Project 2025, he’s making a hard run at pushing the document’s agenda through. Half the authors of the 900-page document are now serving in his cabinet, and the list of goals, which at best can be described as Christo-fascist in nature, is quickly racking up check marks. And this shit is alarming. The BBC has a great write up on the origins of the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, the ultra-conservative document’s main goals, and the progress that’s been made on them. Here are a few of the P25 highlights:
Government
They want all agencies to be under the direct control of the President. We’ve already covered this. Absolute power is a big no-no, and it’s the entire reason we have a three-branch government, but okay. So you want to do away with democracy as a concept. Got it. Moving on. Along with putting everything in the President’s control, P25 calls for the FBI to be dismantled, the elimination of the Department of Education, and he moved to accomplish this by setting an un-elected civilian lose on the administrative side of the government with claims of rooting out fraud (i.e. to shut everything down that they can).
Reproductive Rights
This literally began on day one in office. We all know the drill. Trump claims he won’t ban abortion outright but that’s the goal. He already fucked it up once by not realizing that IVF falls into the same category as abortion and birth control. It was a little fun watching that backfire. Not for the people on IVF, my heart goes out to you and I’m so sorry your journey is/was interrupted. The troubling part of this one is the DHHS goal.
“The document proposes new data collection efforts on abortion and more generally suggests that the department of Health and Human Services should “maintain a biblically based, social science-reinforced definition of marriage and family”.“
SOURCE: BBC
The United States of America is not a Chritian nation. We are a nation where you are free to be Christian. Or Muslim, Jewish, Satanist, Buddist, Hindi, pagan, or any other religion, or not religious at all! This nation was founded to be FREE from religious persecution and the Christians have been trying to force it their way since. Our government shouldn’t include any laws or requirements that are biblically based.
Immigration
Well, we know how this is going. Doctor Phil. I’ve maintained for years that this man is a know-it-all twat who benefits off of the brokenness of others. Watching him go on an ICE ride along was gross yet entirely unsurprising. He’s an uberconservative Republicunt from Texas. No one should have been shocked by any part of that except the goofiness of sending a TV shrink to make I told you so commentary to deportees. Entirely unnecessary and weird.
Then there is the other end of immigration that the right side of the aisle never wants to talk about when they start getting all horny over deportations. No one steps into the jobs “illegals” are supposedly stealing once they’re gone. He tried this in his first term (in the form of deportations and halting/limiting work visas) and the result was USA farms with a whole lot of rotting fruit and veggies because no US citizens were rushing to fill the newly vacated produce picking jobs. Is farming not your thing? Let’s talk about traveling fairs then. everyone loves fairs. Greasy food, rigged games with cheap prizes, and the promise of a giant pile of cotton candy. In 2019, the Kiwanis Fair was cancelled here in New Hampshire because the fair was unable to fill the jobs. The H-2B visas were severely limited by the Trump organization and no US citizens were scrambling to fill the vacancies. Zip, zero, zilch, nada, goose egg. It was the first time in sixty-three years that they had to cancel the fair. Small in the grand scheme, yes, but it’s just one example of how these policies trickle down and touch on things that no one is thinking about when the policy is enacted. Even Elon caught on! After going hard with Trump about deportations, he realized that he’d have to pay American wages in his own companies and holy fuck nuggets. The speed with which that manchild back-pedaled on that issue was comical. He immediately began singing the praises of American companies hiring foreigners on H-1B visas.
Trade
Trade is another one we’ve already seen go sideways. DJT ran on a platform of lowering prices and the first thing he did when he took office was put tariffs in place that would ensure the exact opposite. Tariffs may be levied against countries that export to us but they get paid by the folks buying the products off the shelf. The tariffs are just rolled into our prices at the register. Levying tariffs against a trade partner only hurts those who need those products the most. Trade partners like China are who stock stores such as Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Family Dollar. Did you know that there were more than 38,000,000 people in this country living below the poverty line when we did the 2020 census? That’s at least 38,000,000 people who won’t be able to afford to live in the economy that DJT is creating. And all the stuff he promised to make affordable on day one???? More bullshit. The price of eggs climbed/is still climbing because we have a H5 bird flu epidemic happening. Since 2022, more than 148,000,000 birds have been ordered euthanized here in the US due to H5 infection. Supply goes down, demand goes up. Econ 101, baby. And, to add to that horrifying nugget, the President doesn’t determine gas prices. OPEC does. It’s literally been that way since the 60s but it’s a rage flashpoint that every politician preys on at election time. They blame the existing administration for the barrel price of petrol and hope like hell that their constituents are too stupid to know any better. And I don’t pin this one exclusively on the Reds. Democrats are every bit as guilty on this front. They all bitch about gas prices as though the person they’re trying to run out of office has anything to do with it.
Education
This one has problems stacked on problems. P25 wants to see the Department of Education abolished and the only people this hurts are those who need extra help. Public school budgets are determined by the town’s tax base, not federal funds. Public school curriculum is determined by state and local governments, not federal funds. Books included in lesson plans? Also state and local governments. The DoE is largely responsible for things like special education programs, learning disability assistance, physical disability assistance, special student transportation, and the protection of student civil liberties. My son has ADHD. So do I but the hyperactivity part of it skipped me entirely. The shared symptom we do have is an inability to focus when utter disinterest has entered the chat. He’s a super-smart kid. When you get him to focus, he grasps the material and blows right through assignments with good grades. BUT he sometimes needs someone to prod him and keep him on task, even with ADHD medication. I can’t be there to do it so he has someone who checks in on him in class and helps him out when he needs it. Her salary and the existence of the department she works in are funded by the Department of Education.
The other big goal for this section that worries me is the redirection of federal funding of private and religious schools. There is no reason for this. Say it with me, children: The United States of America is not a Christian nation. You’re welcome to be a Christian but tax dollars shouldn’t be paying for it. Churches are already tax exempt, a rule that has allowed corrupt people to amass ridiculous wealth or, much worse, cover up the widespread physical and sexual abuse of men, women, and children within their organizations. The whole reason churches get a tax exemption is because they are supposed to exist in service to their community. They’re not supposed to amass ridiculous wealth, they’re supposed to be devoted to aiding the poor, the sick, the hungry. Doing community outreach. Helping those in need. You know, ‘doing God’s work’ or whatever. We have centuries of documented atrocities carried out in the name of their (insert religion here because almost all of them apply) God. It’s not a regional problem, it happens/has happened worldwide. It’s not even uncommon! Even if you can somehow muster the fortitude to ignore horrible shit like (for example) the Catholic church’s wholesale cover up of abuses carried out by priests, wouldn’t the countless number of churches that have turned out to be money scams make the government think twice about the whole tax exempt thing? So now the churches get tax exemption and taxpayers have to pay to spread it further? Even if we don’t believe in it or support the abuses carried out by them? Come on now.
Tech
But Jena, how does tech have anything to do with Project 2025’s goals? Hey Texas, when was the last time you pulled on your body while watching Pornhub? Without a VPN to circumvent your state’s stupid law, you big perv. Texas made it a law and Pornhub shut service off to Texans in response. Clearly, the people writing the law didn’t consider that twelve year olds know how to use a VPN. It’s how all of them use social media at school, dummy. My kids had to teach me about VPN apps, not the other way around. 🤣 One of the suggestions of the P25 doc is to ban porn and then shut down companies who allow access to it. In the publishing industry, one bill that falls into this realm is the Oklahoma bill SB593 which calls for an expansion of the definition of ‘pornography’ and if passed, could include romance novels. The legislator proposing the bill has tried this many times in the past with similar proposed bills and failed, which is good, but the decks are stacked in favor of far-right goals right now, which is bad. If the law is to be believed, it won’t pass because of First Amendment violations, but laws don’t seem to matter anymore so… 🤣 We shall see how that one pans out. If it passes, my prediction is you will see a bunch of states quickly do the same. For the sake of the romance sector of the publishing industry, I hope it dies in the cradle like all his past attempts.
DEI
Oh, these stupid fucks. I have to give myself a goozefraaaaabbbaaaaaa moment before I begin typing this section. Deep breath in 1, 2, 3, 4, hold 1, 2, 3, 4, release 1, 2, 3, 4, hold 1, 2, 3, 4…
Okay, Reds, please really take these words deep into your soul:
‘D.E.I.’ DOESN’T JUST MEAN TRANS PEOPLE.
The people pushing to get rid of DEI only hear ‘transgender’ when you say that but that’s far from all it encompasses. And I’m not minimizing the trans experience and the fact that their community is currently under attack by saying this. And they most certainly are under attack. 😢 Trans people have their own struggle that I can support and be an ally for but I can never really understand it because I’m not one of them. What I am is A) a woman, B) the mom of a bi-racial child, C) the mom of a child with ADHD, and D) someone very close to me is LGBTQ+ but they are not publicly out yet. I can only speak on all of this from my own experience but know that I am an LGBTQ+ and BIPoC ally. I see you. I support you. I fear for your safety. The thing that scares me personally is the disregard for everything women have fought for in the last decade. #MeToo happened because of rampant sexual abuse being carried out against women. #TimesUp happened because men have been treating women like property since we all ambled out of the cave. Women demanding an equal place at the table isn’t woke, it’s fucking overdue.
I thought lessons were learned but apparently not. Trump has already been nailed for rape (E. Jean Carroll + 24 other women who haven’t had the pleasure of seeing their case go to court). Pete Hegseth, our current Secretary of Defense, has been accused of raping a staff member of the California Federation of Republican Women at a conference in 2017. Robert F. Kennedy Jr, our current Secretary of Health and Human Services, is accused of sexually assaulting his former nanny in the 1990s. When pressed about it, his response was, “I am not a church boy.” Ummmm, okay??? You big fucking creep. Linda McMahon, our current Secretary of Education, is named along side her husband (WWE’s Vince McMahon) in a lawsuit filed in October 2024 alleging sexual misconduct. Check out the docuseries ‘Mr. McMahon’ on Netflix to learn a bit more about that one. Elon Musk, an unelected official who is running roughshod over our social programs right now, is currently facing a lawsuit from eight former employees who claim that they were wrongfully fired when they accused the company of tolerating sexual harassment in the workplace. They claim that said harassment was carried out by Musk himself in the form of sharing “vile sexual photographs, memes and commentary that demeaned women and/or the LGBTQ+ community,” We almost ended up with Matt Gaetz as Attorney General, a man who is, in fact, under investigation for the sex trafficking of minors. We can barely call that one alleged since we have his own texts and Venmo transactions to prove it. Who had that on their 2025 BINGO card, eh??? Fuck this administration.
So yeah, if I could change any one law, I would outlaw felons from serving office. Any office, not just the big chair.
As a side note, I began writing this post weeks ago. Sooooooo much more has happened since then and this post doesn’t even begin to make a dent in talking about all of it but I just can’t. I’d be typing for years if we got into all the dumb and horrible shit this administration is getting up to. It’s worrying and embarrassing, and unfortunately, I believe it’s going to get worse before it gets better. Three years and ten months is a long time to fuck more things up.
