Itty Bitty Review: Marry Me

This was a delightful surprise but it shows how little network TV I watch. I managed to miss the release of this movie entirely but I woke up this morning to a notification that it as available on my Amazon Prime Video membership. Since I was spending the wee hours this morning working on outlining the fourth Hellfire novel (you read that right), I decided to let it play while I worked.

I thought this was going to be the weirdest pairing ever to grace a screen. The idea of Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson together seems like an odd fit but they were charming together! This movie has lots of great talent. John Bradley plays one of her management team and he’s delightful. Michelle Buteau’s character was more bitchy than funny in this one but she had her moments. Sarah Silverman, playing a middle school guidance counselor of all things, was absolutely hilarious.

The basic premise is that a pop star, through a strange twist of planned and unplanned events, marries one of the people attending her concert. It’s cute and funny and J-Lo fans get a bunch of new songs from her, mostly romance-centric in tone (not club bangers). If you liked her movie The Wedding Planner, you will like Marry Me. It’s got the same kind of tone. How it ends isn’t going to surprise anyone but you’ll feel good watching it. 💜💜💜
