Never Be Afraid To Let Your Geek Flag Fly!

Greetings, humans!  This afternoon’s post is going to be a little bit of verbal vomit, but I promise you there is a point.  It’s been a few weeks since I did a real good blog post and it’s time.

As you all know, on top of writing and Pure Textuality PR, I still work a day job.  About three weeks ago, my boss came to me and asked if I would be willing to join a training class with some of the newer team members.  It was a block of business I hadn’t been trained on, and quite frankly, it meant twenty hours of overtime over the course of two weeks.  I made the after school arrangements for my kids, and committed.  Three nights into the class, I was regretting it.  I honestly didn’t think that two hours extra a night after my normal eight hour day would be a lot, but it really is.  It’s mentally exhausting.  I found that after the first week, I was spending every spare minute of my day yawning.  Red watery eyes all the time are not a cute look.

Anyway, I finally finished the training and passed my test last Saturday, and it’s taken me a week to get caught up and back on track, and this past weekend was an integral part of getting there.  I spent Saturday working on PTPR stuff, and Sunday I spent the afternoon and evening with Heather (one of the PTPR staff) just hanging out, laughing, sipping wine, and watching the Patriots game.  I was lazy and spent most of the weekend in pajamas and next to no housework was accomplished.  However, at the end of my uberlazy weekend, I feel refreshed and ready to kick some ass.  After the last few weeks I’ve had, it feels really good to be able to say that.

Yesterday I was listening to a podcast and had a realization I want to share with all of you.  I know a lot of my followers here on the Bloggy Blog are writers, and I want to offer you some words of encouragement and comfort.  By all means, please feel free to credit Chris Hardwick on this, because without his podcast, I wouldn’t be writing this post.

@BradMeltzer on @Nerdist, the #Batfleck suit post by @the_batforce, and I #amwriting.

Good morning, party people!  I am just going to stop in super-fast this morning.  I plan on spending my day working on either Dance With the Devil or the untitled Nick/Lexi project.  Not sure which yet, but the plan is to write something today.  In my defense, yesterday’s blog post was over 2,000 words.  I am counting that in the writing win column, but it didn’t get either of my works in progress any closer to being done.  That sound you hear is me cracking the whip at myself…

Anyway, there are two reasons I am popping in today:  Brad Meltzer and the Batfleck suit…

I’m pouting and it’s partly Hardwick’s fault…. (@Nerdist #SDCC )

I’m sitting here at my desk…..pouting. I know I could be doing something productive, like maybe working on Speak of the Devil or one of the other 8,000,000,000,000.3 things I have on my never-ending to-do list.

But, no.

I’m pouting.

Why? You want to know why?!?!?!?!

There is only one reason the King of the Nerds would be dressed as Marty McFly (aside from it being, you know, a Thursday…..).

You got it. Comic Con has started.

“Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means ‘a whale’s vagina.’” — Ron Burgundy

Well, it actually kicked off last night for preview night, but today is when the flood gates really opened.

And I’m pouting because I am not there. I am at work, almost as far from Comic Con as I could possibly get without leaving the country (I live all the way over in New Hampshire).

But I’m not bitter. Once again, I am sayin’…..NEXT YEAR.

Next year, SDCC……YOU ARE MINE!!!!

For now, I will just stalk and @Nerdist for my updates. Sigh….  To all the lucky peeps at SDCC, I am sending my good vibes your way and wishing you all a wonderful con!

MINION MISSION:  If any of my readers are there at SDCC, or anywhere really, SEND ME YOUR SELFIES!!! I will be posting a photo album on my site soon – a gallery of my minions in selfies, so get creative with your smartphones and email the results to me at!

Please, no peckers, nipples, or other various unmentionable bits. I don’t want to open my inbox pre-coffee and drop from a massive coronary event. One needs coffee to cope with that sort of thing.  Ok, I am going back to working on Speak of the Devil.  😉   #amwriting
