SUPER DUPER IMPORTANT NEWS ABOUT ‘THE DEVIL YOU KNOW’: I thought about it long and hard…

Really? I say ‘long and hard’ and THAT’S where your mind goes?

… … …

Ok, I admit it. Mine too. * nudge nudge * That’s why we are friends. WINK

I spent the better part of yesterday thinking while I worked. It was pretty much all I thought about all damn day actually.

I have decided to push the publishing date of The Devil You Know out to July 30th.

“Why?” you ask.

Two reasons!

LAME-O EXCUSE #1
Editing. The first round of edits came back from my editor and my guess is the book will EASILY be an extra 10,000 – 15,000 words longer by the time I am done addressing the issues that I plan to address. Some suggestions will not be changed in the book but others will and basically that leaves me back to writing. Although it is in much smaller amounts than an entire book, it is still time consuming as it is coming up with scenes/conversations I never planned to have in my book. Creating something from nothing.

I can tell you that although it is taking time, I am really liking the result I am putting out. I have brainstormed with one of my besties and fellow author Ginny Lurcock on a few scenes and I have brainstormed with another one of my besties and fellow author Amber Lynn Natusch on a few scenes. Both have really helped me wrap my head around the fixes that need to be made.

To say I freaked out when I saw the amount of write-in’s that needed to be done was an understatement.

No, really.

I even emailed both Amber and Ginny and said “I’m freaking out!” They both talked me off the ledge and after the initial panic passed, I read through the editorial suggestions and realized it will be well worth it in the end.

That started me thinking about pushing the date out. Once I finish these write-in suggestions, we then have to start editing all over again. And my editor is headed out on a week-long vacation (I know! I didn’t approve it either!). By the end of my little internal struggle yesterday, I realized that July 9th is just unrealistic. Not far off the mark but just not going to happen. I mean, I could make it happen but quite frankly, you guys would end up reading a book that is in a REALLY shitty state and I don’t want that.

LAME-O EXCUSE #2
I am actually very excited about this. As most of you know, I created my own book covers. As an indie getting started out, budgets are limited and I am not too shabby with an art program so I made my own covers. Well, as I started approaching the release of TDYK, I started thinking about having my cover redone. Not a whole new cover exactly. It will still have Dez with her guns. It will still be a bluey-purple color but the back ground will be different, there will be accents, and the entire thing will have a MUCH more polished look to it. I really wanted the cover redone before the release of the book.

Thanks to my beautiful and an extraordinary friend/fellow author Brandy Dorsch (her debut novel is releasing this year!!!), I was turned on to her cover artist. You guys won’t be able to see it until July 10th (that’s the date of her cover reveal) but Brandy has a gorgeous book cover. Very well done. So I pulled a bogart with her artist (I asked Brandy first!). I sent the artist all the Hi-Res pieces she needs and discussed what I am looking for and I am DYING to see the end result!!!!!!!

I should have my cover back before July 9th (my expected release date when she and I talked) so I will be able to show all of you in just a couple weeks.

So that’s my final answer. The Devil You Know WILL be published on July 30th. Period. It’s happening that day.

Thank you all for your patience and continued support!!! I am so frikkin excited about this release and I just want to make sure that it is really READY when I hit publish.
