Welcome to Crimson Elite,
the most exclusive sex club in the world.
Love had cut me in so many ways I wondered if my heart could take any more. But then I saw him. He was my boss.A single father. And to top it off he was insolent. I didn’t intend to want him, that wasn’t my objective. But somehow I couldn’t say no. We shouldn’t have worked, but like witchcraft, I was under his spell. My heart’s been destroyed before, I’m not sure it can handle heartbreak again.
Avery’s Thoughts About the Book
I’m not crying! YOU’RE CRYING!
In my review of Conceited, I mentioned how Falcon’s character seemed to have a personality transplant for that book. Darby was cranky AF in that book as well, seemingly for little-to-no reason. Well… In this book, we get all the tea. Darby is a fresh baby daddy. He thought he had a one night stand. Turns out, there is waaaaaaaaaaay more to that story.
The author went and gave Darby a soul crushing love story. Steamy, yes, but soul crushing nonetheless. And the thing is, you can see the train wreck coming immediately in the first chapter and you won’t be able to look away. You know the book is going to make you sob and you get in line for the ride anyway. Right out of the gate, Cranky Darby steps back and lets the Debonair Darby we know and love take the wheel.
Olympia/Blue is a great character. Going in, she’s all spitfire. She takes no shit from Darby even though he’s got all the personality of a hangry bear when they first meet. Part of her bravado is a bit of a show though and when you find out why….omg, the tears.
This was an excellent finale to the series but you don’t get to the HEA without some serious ugly crying. One side note I’d like to mention: Minus the whore factor because he’s all loved up now, Falcon is also back to his charming self in this book. I’m glad. That’s the guy I missed in the last book.
