I am sooooooo sloooooooooow at proofreading. BAD WOLF is back from the fabulous Jenn Waterman at ModernElektra Editing. The major edits went pretty quickly. I have to say, aside from my usual sins (weird extremes of too few or too many commas, stupid typos like if/of and is/it, etc.), the book was actually pretty solid. Not many substantive changes at all. So proofreading is where I’m at. I took a break from looking at it for a few days while I worked on a other things for clients of mine. I’m still on track to have the file done and uploaded to Amazon by tomorrow night but I don’t have to like the process.
EASTER EGG OF SORTS: Do we have any Whovians out there? The title BAD WOLF started out as a bit of an inside joke (so inside, I was the only one in on it). I’m a great big Doctor Who fan and one of my favorite storylines is Rose Tyler and that time she absorbed the Time Vortex from the heart of the TARDIS. She did it in an attempt to save the Doctor and so she sprinkled a breadcrumb trail throughout time to get her to that point. Those breadcrumbs were the words BAD WOLF. When I was tossing around title ideas for this book, that popped into my head and I laughed a bit at the thought that my book could be one of Rose’s breadcrumbs. I put it in the column of title candidates (because it really did fit the book) but didn’t plan on actually using it. I figured that by the time I was done writing the book, I would work out the real title. However, I reached the end of the first draft and BAD WOLF was it. So, although it has nothing to do at all with the TV series or even the Doctor Who genre, it’s my tiny little love note to my fellow Whovians out there.
I’m off for the day to go work on BookMojo business but I’m back to my proofreading BAD WOLF tonight. Also, for those interested, I’m already 27,104 words into writing the second Executioner book. As soon as the final BAD WOLF file is uploaded to Amazon, I will be back to working on it and I can’t wait!
LET THE HUNT BEGIN.
When Jamie Hayes left home in a heartbroken rage, she had no plan, no money, and nowhere to go. Meeting Marcel Cross, a werewolf alpha, and Kade Walker, the head of a vampire coven, changed all of that. Now she’s got a new life, complete with a job as the first Executioner in the New York chapter of the Executioners Guild. Her mission is to take out as many demons as she can and keep the supernatural bad seeds in line while she’s at it.
The police are searching for a serial rapist in the area, one with a penchant for beautiful young blondes and a habit of leaving no survivors. When a female vamp from the Walker coven disappears, the Guild gets involved, and Jamie’s first assignment is to track Jacqueline down and bring her home safe before she ends up like the others.
The hunt is on. If Jamie’s not careful, she could wind up becoming the next prey.
BAD WOLF, the first full-length novel in the Executioner series, a Hellfire spin-off series.
